Psychosocial Recovery Coaching

Supporting your mental wellbeing

We offer a person-centred, strengths-based approach to your recovery. It’s important for us to earn your trust and understand how to best support the way you would like us to, so we can help you through the recovery journey.

What is recovery coaching?

Some mental health diagnoses allow for a recovery coach and/or support coordinator to be funded for you through the NDIS. A recovery coach provides all the same services as a support coordinator, but also has additional services.

Our coaches have the purpose of supporting you in your recovery. We feel this can best be done through use of a person-centered, strengths-based approach. It’s important for us to earn your trust so that we can help you through the recovery process. By understanding you, we can assist in keeping your life on track and help you follow the strategies necessary to accomplish your goals.

Planning – how we help you achieve your goals

Once our coaches have an appreciation of who you are and have been informed of your recovery strategies, we will create a Wellness Action Recovery Plan for you. This plan is approached wholistically and pools together the relevant details across all the parts of your life.

It contains all the significant information about your recovery and is made available to the private and professional people involved in your journey. While still respecting your privacy, this ensures all the people invested in your recovery remain informed of your needs and aware of any significant changes.

We believe this plan is important, else it can be difficult navigating through the requirements of all the different providers and keeping them informed of changes as you progress. As well as the professional providers, the plan also helps keep your approved friends and family up to date with your progress. This offers them the opportunity to understand the kind of assistance they are best to provide you with.

We’re with you on your journey

Through-out your journey, health providers will supply you with strategies for your recovery. We know however, that making change happen can be a challenge. Whoever your provider (e.g. psychologists, occupational therapists, child safety) our recovery coaches will be there to help you understand and apply the guidance you have been given. Sometimes this may mean identifying and working through obstacles to the strategies, like extra training that support workers may require. Whatever the case we are your partner in making your recovery a priority and supporting you to apply these strategies in your life.

We believe it is important for you to have regular connection with your recovery coach. We maintain weekly or fortnightly contact to keep in touch and ensure we continue to understand you and your progress. Through regular contact, coaches can be informed of the details that matter, whether it’s the seemingly big things or little things. This consistent, familiar contact doesn’t just help our coaches to understand your current situation, it provides you with someone to talk to who understands all the parts of your life and the goals that you are pursuing.

Our coaches will help you to find the amount of independence that feels right for you and your circumstances. Every person we support is different in the amount of independence that they want or need in their lives. It’s important that our coaches listen to your preferences and support you in the strategies which promote the level of support you want.

We want you to know it’s healthy for people to accept the need (or choice) for long term support. Likewise, we feel it’s healthy for people to pursue the amount of independence that they want in their lives. We are committed to working with you and your health providers to find this balance between support and independence.

What our clients say

I’ve known Shery for 2 years as she assisted me with setting up my Ndis plan and it was done so well we got everything we asked for. She is the go to person for setting up Ndis plan or review of plan as she understands all areas to cover. With my dealings with Shery she has always showed understanding and empathy. Anyone who has here as a support will be enriched in all areas. Plus a lovely happy personality to go with it

Janet

we couldn’t have felt more supported than when you came and sat with us upon entering into the world of NDIS. We felt like we were in a mini minor staring at a dirt road full of pot holes until you gave us all the direction we needed. Sitting with us through the tough conversations that we’d spent our life avoiding was priceless and we wouldn’t want to do it without you. you’re the real deal so thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything!

Neity
